What we cover
We publish guides to local businesses, restaurants, shopping, waterfront attractions, events and essential services. Our aim is to help readers understand where an option is and what details may matter to their plans.
Ipswich and the surrounding geography
Ipswich is Suffolk’s county town. Ipswich Borough Council covers the town and its urban neighbourhoods; Suffolk County Council has separate responsibilities, including highways, education and many transport functions. The borough is much smaller than Suffolk County, so we do not use “Ipswich” as a substitute for all of Suffolk.
We distinguish the central area around Cornhill, Sailmakers, Ipswich Market and the historic lanes from the Waterfront around Wet Dock and Neptune Quay, and from Cardinal Park. The leisure and visitor waterfront is related to—but distinct from—the working Port of Ipswich. Commercial port premises may be restricted; we do not imply public access where it is not confirmed.
Neighbourhoods including St Margaret’s, Castle Hill, Whitton, Westerfield, Bixley, Rushmere St Andrew, California, Gainsborough, Priory Heath, Ravenswood, Chantry, Stoke, Gipping, Sprites, Holywells and Alexandra have their own locations. Planned or developing areas such as Ipswich Garden Suburb should not be described as complete without current evidence.
Martlesham and BT Adastral Park are outside Ipswich borough, though connected to its wider economic area. Felixstowe is a separate coastal town and port; Colchester is in Essex, Norwich is in Norfolk, and Bury St Edmunds is another Suffolk town. We identify these places by their actual location when they appear in regional guides.
Ipswich Hospital is an Ipswich facility operated within a regional NHS trust; it is distinct from hospitals in Colchester. The University of Suffolk has its campus on the Waterfront. Ipswich station is served by Greater Anglia; current routes and timetables should be checked rather than assumed.
Sources and changing details
Where practical, we use sources close to the subject, including a business’s own information, Ipswich Borough Council, Suffolk County Council, NHS information, venue and organiser pages, transport operators and relevant public bodies. Business status, market arrangements, opening hours, port access, transport, hospital services, event programmes and development projects can change. We check current details where feasible and encourage readers to confirm important information directly.
We do not invent businesses, ratings, customer feedback, prices, opening hours, event dates or service coverage. We distinguish Ipswich port cargo and logistics from marina and visitor activity, and do not treat Felixstowe port as part of Ipswich. We avoid unsupported claims about safety, health outcomes, property values, school quality, demographics or individual organisations.
We do not state that a planned transport or development project is operational or complete without reliable current confirmation. For health, legal, financial or urgent matters, we provide general signposting only and direct readers to qualified professionals or official sources.
Recommendations and commercial relationships
A listing or recommendation is not automatically paid for or endorsed. If content is sponsored or has another commercial relationship, we will identify it clearly. Commercial arrangements do not by themselves determine our editorial view.
Corrections
To report a possible error, email [email protected]. Include the page address, the detail in question and a reliable source if possible. We review correction requests and update material errors where appropriate. Minor edits may be made without a separate note; substantial corrections may be identified on the page.
A request does not automatically require removal or amendment. We consider accuracy, relevance, privacy, safety and the public interest. We do not publish private personal information or unverified allegations about individuals.
Scope
Our guides are selective, not a complete directory. Inclusion is not a guarantee of quality, availability or suitability, and absence is not criticism. Confirm important details with the relevant organisation before making a decision.
